How to Use an Anchor in a Layout with Line Data

Anchors are objects that identify pages, data areas or other anchors in order to determine which one of those objects should be used to read data at agiven position. Additionally, they can be used to confirm that the data being read from them is the data that is expected or to set a relative position for other objects. Anchors read all data in the position where it is placed and have a condition attached, i.e. if the data meets the condition set then the anchor is also met. We can use anchors in la...

Utilizing Trace To Workflow in Quadient Inspire

Complex layout structures can make proofing a challenge. To solve this issue utilize the Trace to Workflow feature under the available proof window. This will allow developers to follow the different components flowing into the proof and identify issues with the workflow.  The example below shows how to utilize this feature within Inspire. Select the ‘Trace to Workflow ” icon from the left side of the tool menu available on the proof window. Now, click on the sheet proof at the place where you want to see the corresponding design in layout. On your right a window with...

Optimizing Overlays with Quadient Inspire

Static objects (i.e. those that do not use any variables) are placed into overlays in order to simplify the spooled description of the design and increase processing speed. Overlays are created as the objects are processed in their Z-order. The static objects are merged into an overlay, one by one in that Z-order. However, if the next object is variable then it cannot be placed in the overlay and so that overlay is finished. The next static object in the Z-order will be placed in a new overlay and the process continues. It is good practice to place static objects consecutively in the Z-o...

Two uses of DO METHODs in Dynamic Scripting with Quadient Inspire

There are following two ways to use do methods: #1) If the script is passed as an input string, then we can use do.eval() method to evaluate that script. Declaration: do.eval (Type aResultType, String aScript) : ResultType This method compiles (at runtime) and executes a script passed as a string, and returns the result in the specified type. This allows the creation of script based on requirements only known at runtime. For example, complex validation or calculation rules can be read from a file / database or built up during runtime. The return type is specified in the first param...

Dynamic Table Design Using Scripting in Quadient

To create a dynamic table in the layout, you have to follow HTML tags and code. To store the values of yourinput data you have to store input value into a Utill StringTable. In the String table we save the all the input datain the columns and Rows. Then use String Table values as a HTML code. In this you an use text style, Paragraphstyles etc. Then use this variable as a Variable Formatted flow. Following is the screen shot of WFD. Create a linked/Unlinked variable for script for Dynamic table. Following is the script of Dynamic table in the transformer. Now create a Flow Ar...

How to handle overflow from left to right using Quadient Inspire

We recently had a client request to manage an overflow issue from left to right. The following example shows how to handle this in Quadient (GMC) Inspire. Following is the screenshot of test wfd. In this wfd Data Generator, Data Transformer and Layout are used. In Data Transformer three linked variables Name of Ref, Amount, Date which is linked to Number. This was done to make a conceive of original requirement. In layout module a flow (Main) in page 1 is created which is repeated from Number array. Then an element is created and then in...

Simple Way to Test Adding Variables In A WFD

Testing is an essential component of development and design. We have created a simple test in a WFD to confirm the values we are computing are correct. In this WFD some sample input data is been created in the Script Data Input. Here you can see there are two variable in Int format, named Var0 and Var1. To add this following script is used: The new variable is created here as Total1, in this variable the script is implemented.The script will only add the value of those variable which has same name here mentioned as...
