Standard Data Models in CCM

How Interchangeable Parts Can Improve Your Capabilities   Many of us learned in school about Eli Whitney, Marc Isambard Brunel, Henry Leland and others who pioneered the idea of “interchangeable parts”, a concept which accelerated the industrial revolution. Over 200 years ago, standard, identical parts drove explosive growth in manufacturing as assembly line production replaced hand-crafting for many goods. In recent decades the ability to customize within any given set of standards, through modular design & production techniques, has shown that the same principles of interch...

Optimizing Overlays with Quadient Inspire

Static objects (i.e. those that do not use any variables) are placed into overlays in order to simplify the spooled description of the design and increase processing speed. Overlays are created as the objects are processed in their Z-order. The static objects are merged into an overlay, one by one in that Z-order. However, if the next object is variable then it cannot be placed in the overlay and so that overlay is finished. The next static object in the Z-order will be placed in a new overlay and the process continues. It is good practice to place static objects consecutively in the ...

Two uses of DO METHODs in Dynamic Scripting with Quadient Inspire

There are following two ways to use do methods: #1) If the script is passed as an input string, then we can use do.eval() method to evaluate that script. Declaration: do.eval (Type aResultType, String aScript) : ResultType This method compiles (at runtime) and executes a script passed as a string, and returns the result in the specified type. This allows the creation of script based on requirements only known at runtime. For example, complex validation or calculation rules can be read from a file / database or built up during runtime. The return type is specified in the first pa...
